None of us can be unaffected by the events in the Ukraine and the unfolding refugee crisis now spreading into Eastern Europe and beyond. We'd all like to be doing something to help so we thought that WADAC as a club might be able to show our support by dedicating one training session - our sessions on Tuesday 29th March - to that cause.
The idea is that:
- at that session we all wear training gear in the light blue and yellow colours of the Ukrainian flag and each coach takes a photo of his/her group showing their support
- at (or better ahead of) that session we individually consider donating some money to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal being organised by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). See below for more details of how to make a donation.

The DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities (including Oxfam, Save the Children and the British Red Cross) to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas. By donating to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, you'll help DEC charities provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families.
Donations can be made in three ways:
- if you are a UK taxpayer and can use the GiftAid scheme please give directly through the DEC Ukraine Appeal
- if you prefer you can donate via the WADAC Treasurer and by simply registering for this event (GiftAid not available by this route)
- we (or your coach) will have collection buckets available for cash donations at your training session on the night (GiftAid not available by this route)
If you make a donation by the first route (ie directly to the DEC appeal) please drop our Treasurer a note (treasurer@wadac.org.uk) so we can have some idea of the total amount raised by WADAC. Individual donation amounts will be kept confidential.
