British 10K Championships
The British 10k Road Race Championships will be held as part of the Vitality London 10000 race (formerly the BUPA London 10k) on 30th May 2016.
The Vitality London 10,000 starts and finishes in St James’s Park and uses Green Park as its assembly area. The race starts on The Mall and finishes on Spur Road opposite Buckingham Palace. Runners follow a clockwise route around the City of Westminster and the City of London. It passes many of London’s famous sights including Admiralty Arch, Nelson’s Column, St Paul’s Cathedral, Mansion House, the Bank of England, the Old Bailey, Somerset House, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
There is good prize money to be had (individual and team prizes) and we would like to do well so the ballot process will favour our faster runners and our emerging junior talent. The club has been allocated these places in the 10k championships through our participation in the 2015/16 National and Regional road relays so the process will also favour those who have supported our relay efforts last year. There will however be some places available in the ballot for non-seeded athletes so please do register and put your name into the hat.
Firstly any British athletes who have run 10km faster than 32 minutes (men) and 38 minutes (Women) in the last two years are offered a complimentary entry. This is in addition to the club places we are balloting so if you are in this very fast category please contact the organisers directly and let roadrelaysmen@wadac.org.uk know when you have secured your place.
Secondly the club places (6men, 6women) are available to any first claim athlete aged 17 or over on the 31st August 2016.
